Cyber Security Engineer Job Description

Major functions:

  • Partake in technical design reviews, integration, testing, and documentation work
  • Responsible for technical advisory to research teams
  • Update, sustain, and administer a high level of security for in-house security infrastructures
  • Run vulnerability valuation of protocols, hardware, and software
  • Apply system security engineering principles to deliver real solutions premeditated to enhance the security position including requirements definitions, testing and test plans, implementation plans and troubleshooting maintenance of deployed systems.
  • Identify threats and develop suitable defense measures, evaluate system changes for security implications, and recommend enhancements, research, and draft cyber security white papers, and provide first-class support to the cyber security operations staff for resolving difficult cyber security issues\Write Risk Management Framework (RMF)-based policies and procedures and develop comprehensive cyber security processes from project inception through to implementation, including Risk Assessments, POA&MS and ATO’s Authority to Operate.
  • Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings, outcomes and propositions for further system security enhancement as required.
  • Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices
  • Develop technical solutions and new security tools to help mitigate security vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks
  • Configure Windows and Linux host-based security as well as network and cloud-based security systems
  • Support with the installation and configuration of network security architectures, including firewalls, router ACLs (Access Control Lists), web content filters and Demilitarized Zones (DMZ)
  • Familiarity with web related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols
  • Ensure that Patriot Strategies, llc and client (DHA) are in compliance with all Federal Government and DoD requirements for cyber security (e.g.  NIST-800-171)
  • Familiar with current RMF NIST standards and use of RMF evaluation tools. Ensure that Patriot Strategies, llc and client (DHA) are in compliance with all Federal Government and DoD requirements for cyber security (e.g.  NIST-800-171 and others as required)

Requirements – Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge – for Cyber Security Engineer Role

Proven work experience as a system security engineer or information security engineer:

  • Minimum of 5 years plus of experience identifying threats and developing appropriate protection measures
  • Experience in building and maintaining security systems
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer engineering/science preferred
  • Active Security Certification – One of five potential security-related certifications
  • Have or have ability to acquire a Top Secret security clearance
  • Knowledge of NIST and DoD (Department of Defense) 8500 series Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes
  • Understanding of the OSI (Open Systems Interconnection) model and renowned ports and services can be an added advantage
  • Networking experience with the TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol)
  • Technical knowledge of database and operating system security
  • Ability to review system changes for security implications and recommending improvements
  • Understanding of cyber security methodologies
  • Knowledge of or proficient in some computer languages such as Java, Net, C++, Python, bash, power shell
  • Good team player, self-confident, motivated, and independent

Seeking Support Services – Management Analyst II

Duties and Responsibilities:
Requirements typically involve systems or programs such as: Complex Services, Supplies and Research/Development. Examples include complex system, R&D efforts involving state-of-the-art technology, technical support services, telecommunication systems, and support for special security and communications projects. To perform procurement planning; identify within assigned major programs(s) those large-scale subsystems, components, equipment, and services to be acquired by contract. Assist the customers with acquisition planning and strategies, including developing procurement objectives for the program in terms of competition and price range, and constructs the contractual vehicle including use of pricing arrangements, subcontracting policy, set-aside policies, and similar consideration. Prepares and maintains current acquisition plans, appropriate milestone charts, and related schedules. To serve as an advisor to the program officials in procurement planning meetings when needed. Advise program officials of the procurement objectives to be used, and assists in the preparation of statements of work. Prepare determinations and finding and solicitation documents. Performs detailed analyses of all elements of cost in contractor proposals, and makes competitive range determinations. Conducts proposal conference(s) with prospective contractor(s) to arrive at a clear understanding of what is required under the proposed modifications to clarify questions concerning such topics as specification changes, language ambiguities, or clarification of contract clauses. As required by the lack of meaningful cost and price information, explores new or innovative contracting approaches to arrive at an equitable contract arrangement. To serve as lead negotiator on small projects; assist in the negotiation strategy, and the negotiations with contractors to develop the contract prices and terms. To be knowledgeable of the various types of contract vehicles; such as IDIQ, BPAs, Assisted Acquisition (IAA) and Direct Acquisition (GWAC, GSA, NASA SEWP etc…). The knowledge and skills to perform contract administration and assist with contract close out. Responsibilities typically include incremental funding, preparation of rare and cost adjustments, redirection of effort, coordination of time extension, incorporation of change orders, issuance of stop work orders, issuance of cure notices or show cause letters, monitoring of Government property reporting, approval of progress payments, final payment, and contract closeout.

Warrior Transition Command (WTC) Adaptive Reconditioning Program Administrative Assistant
